Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. - Guilford College outscored Bridgewater College 27-15 in the final period Saturday to defeat the Eagles 73-57 in ODAC action.
After the teams played to an 11-11 tie in the opening period, Guilford outscored the Eagles 25-17 in the second period to lead 36-28 at the half.
Bridgewater opened the third period with a 7-0 spurt to pull within one. Briana Moore knocked down a 3-pointer and Sydni Carey hit two jumpers, trimming the Quakers lead to 38-37.
The teams then traded points until a free throw by Cassidy Burkholder knotted the score at 42-42 with 2:10 left in the third period.
The Quakers scored the final four points of the period to lead 46-42 heading into the final 10 minutes of action.
Carey opened the fourth quarter with a jumper, but Anais Wesatherly hit consecutive buckets to push the Quakers lead to six, 50-44.
After Moore hit 1-of-2 at the line, a layup by Amy Stellar and two foul shots by Essence Abraham increased the Guilford advantage to nine, 54-45, with 7:35 left. The Quakers tacked on five more points to lead by 14 with 5:17 remaining.
The Eagles could no closer than 11 points the rest of the way as the Qaukers finished with the 73-57 victory.
Moore came off the bench to lead the Eagles with 13 points. Burkholder posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds while Carey finished with 10 points.
Four Quakers hit double figures with Lauren Ramsey and Abraham leading the way with 16 points each.
Bridgewater returns to action Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. when the Eagles host Virginia Wesleyan
