Devilbiss Records 100th Career Point in All-Around Team Effort at Hollins

Box Score

ROANOKE, Va. –
Senior Jenna Devilbiss recorded her 100th career point as the Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team easily defeated Hollins, 18-4 on Saturday.

Devilbiss became the 24th player in program history to reach the century mark in scoring, and the second this season (joining teammate Claire Palermo-Re). She came into the day with 93 career points, and recorded five goals and two assists in the first half.

Devilbiss actually accomplished that in the opening 16 minutes, assisting freshman Kristen Stark for her sixth point of the day with 15:48 on the opening clock and scoring 67 seconds later for a 12-3 Bridgewater lead.

Bridgewater's other two seniors also contributed in the win as Caroline Fletcher recorded a hat trick and defender Lakin Engman had a game-high three caused turnovers to go with a goal.

Fletcher, who reached 100 points last season, is two away from becoming Bridgewater's 17th 100-goal scorer.

Freshman Anna O'Hara scored twice and had game-highs of six draw controls and six ground balls.

Junior defender Abby Mills, a volleyball player in her first season with the lacrosse team, opened the second half with her first collegiate goal. Devilbiss set up the play with another assist.

Bridgewater scored six times in the first 5:20 of the contest to take a 6-2 lead.

Palermo-Re had six first half helpers, providing three straight assists on two separate occasions. She assisted Devilbiss and then Fletcher twice for a 7-2 lead, and dished out the final three goals of the first half to Stark, Sarah Yashinskie and Engman.

Also scoring for Bridgewater were Annie Sullivan, Katie Ellis and Erica Blubaugh.

Hollins got all four goals from freshman Valerie Helmbrecht, who has scored 67% of HU's goals this season. She also had three other shots on target saved by Rachel Gruber, who finished with seven stops.

Bridgewater improves to 6-6, 1-3 ODAC, and will travel to Virginia Wesleyan in a game the Eagles must win to remain in the conference playoff race.
