Volleyball Sweeps Second Day of Puerto Rico Classic

San Juan,P.R.- The Bridgewater College volleyball team dominated on the second day of the Puerto Rico Classic, sweeping Widener 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-20) and Wilkes 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-22) on Saturday. 

The Eagles are now 4-0 to start the season after going undefeated in the tournament. 

Allison Clark had a strong day offensively, leading the Eagles in kills both matches. In the first match against Widener, she notched 12 kills. Victoria Wilson had 15 assists to go along with eight digs. Senior Macon Frey paced the defense with 19 digs while sophmore Jenna hamra added 19 assists. Carleigh Studtmann hit .308 with six kills. 

In the second match against Wilkes, Frey continued her success on the defensive end with 22 digs. Wilson hit .313 to go along with 17 assists and nine kills. Clark also added 12 kills. 

The team is set to compete next in the Roanoke Maroon Classic on Sept. 8 and Sept. 9 before returning home to open ODAC play against Virginia Wesleyan on Sept. 12.
