BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team recorded yet another shutout, blanking Mt. St. Vincent 18-0 on Wednesday at Jopson Field.
Freshman goalie Mikaela Brooks had eight saves and three ground balls while marking her third shutout in her first eight collegiate games.
Junior Anna O'Hara filled the box score with three goals, two assists, six ground balls and three caused turnovers. Classmate Sarah Yashinskie added a goal, two assists, seven draw controls and four caused turnovers.
Dwyer Neal scored a game-high four goals and Jodie Welsh added a hat trick. Kayla O'Sullivan matched Yashinskie's four caused turnovers.
Kristen Stark scored from Yashinskie to get BC on the board after a forced turnover by O'Sullivan. After O'Hara was saved on the next possession, she assisted Welsh to make it 2-0.
Brooks saved a free position from Meghan Hoban on the visitors' first chance of the game, and Alicia Forgione hit the post soon after.
BC made it 3-0 on a shorthanded goal in transition. Stark passed it to Shannon Rogers near the crease and the sophomore picked it away from the charging goalkeeper and scored into the open net.
Tori Hudson caused a turnover around midfield with 12:53 left in the first half and assisted Rogers for a 4-0 BC lead.
Welsh completed her hat trick with a man-up goal to make it 6-0 Bridgewater. Neal then scored three straight, including two free position shots just 12 seconds apart, to give the hosts a 9-0 lead at halftime.
The Eagles kept it rolling in the second half. Molly Lynch tipped in a pass from O'Sullivan with 11:05 left to make it 15-0.
Junior Phoebe Hart then scored two of the Eagles' final three goals of the contest.
Bridgewater improves to 6-2 after recording their third shutout of the season. Mt. St. Vincent, who had won three straight, falls to 3-2 on the year.
