ASHLAND, Va. - Senior forward Rebecca Harvey scored 14 points in the first quarter Tuesday night to lead Bridgeater to a 20-14 lead and the Eagles led the rest of the way to defeat Randolph-Macon, 79-73, in ODAC action.

The victory snapped a four-game Bridgewater losing streak. The Eagles are now 10-8 overall and 5-7 in the conference.

Harvey came out on fire, htting 6-of-8 shots in the opening quarter. Her back-to-back 3-pointers sparked the Eagles to a 16-9 lead with 3:31 left in the first quarter. Harvey scored again to make it 18-10 before a layup by Charlotte Woods pulled the Yellow Jackets to within 18-12. Erika Nettles scored for the Eagles before another bucket by Woods ended the quarter with the Eagles leading 20-14.

Bridgewater took its biggest lead of the first half when Claire Mocarski scored inside to put the Eagles on top 33-20 with 3:25 left in the second quarter. At the end of the first half, the Eagles led 36-26.

A three-point play by Harvey at the 5:29 mark of the third quarter pushed the Bridgewater lead to 14 points, 49-35. The Yellow Jackets whittled the margin back down to 10 points, 52-42, before Briana Moore knocked down a 3-pointer and a short jumper to push the margin to 15 points, 57-42.

The Eagles carried that 15-point cushion into the final quarter when Sydni Carey scored just before the third-quarter buzzer, giving Bridgewater a 61-46 lead.

Bridgewater maintained a double-digit lead until Macon's Michal Ross hit two foul shots with 1:34 left to pull the Yellow Jackets to within 73-64. The closest the Yellow Jackets would get was the final six-point margin, 79-73.

Harvey paced the Eagles with a season-high 25-point effort. Moore and Mocarski each finished the game with 12 points. Carey just missed a double-double finishing the night with 10 points, nine rebounds and five assists.

The Eagles are back in action Saturday afternoon when they travel to Ferrum College.
