Box Score

BRIDGEWATER, Va.Chandler Murray found David Oliveras for the tying basket with 6.6 seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime and the Eagles scored the final four points of the extra session to defeat Randolph College, 82-79, Thursday evening at Nininger Hall.

The victory puts the Eagles at 2-1 overall and 2-0 in ODAC play, the first time the Eagles have started a conference schedule with two wins since the 2016-17 season.

Bridgewater led by seven points, 37-28, at the break and quickly pushed the lead to double figures early in the second half.

Randolph's Danny Bickey scored on a layup to open the second half, but BC freshman Alec Topper knocked down a 3-pointer for a 38-30 Eagles lead. A 3-pointer by Jalil Langston increased the lead to 11 points and another 3-ball, this one by Oliveras made the score 44-32 with 17:37 left in the game.

The lead was still 12 points, 60-48, at the 11-minute mark, but the WildCats hit the Eagles with an 11-1 spurt to erase most of the deficit.

Randolph finally pulled even with 4:27 left in the game when Jordan McLyod-Phillips made two foul shots, knotting the score at 65-65.

CJ Loving gave Randolph the lead, 73-71, on a layup with 13 seconds left, but he missed a chance to add to the margin when he failed to convert the free throw following his go-ahead bucket.

Oliveras then took the pass from Murray to score inside, tying the score with 6.6 seconds left, and McLyod-Phillips then missed a long 3-pointer at the buzzer as the teams headed to OT.

A 3-pointer by Bickey put the Cats on top by three, 78-75, with 2:14 left in OT, but the Eagles tied the score when Andy Pack drove to the basket and scored while being fouled. He hit the free throw to tie the score, 78-78, with 1:52 to go.

After McLyod-Phillips made 1-of-2 foul shots, Pack went to the line and made two foul shots to put the Eagles up 80-79 with 46 seconds left.

Randolph's Justin Dula missed a shot in traffic but Loving grabbed the offensive rebound with 20 seconds left. Following a Randolph timeout, Oliveras came away with a steal and drove in for a contested layup, giving the Eagles an 82-79 lead with 11 seconds left.

Bickey's long, contested 3-pointer just before the buzzer was off the mark as the Eagles held on for the overtime victory.

Pack paced four Eagles in double figures with 19 points. Topper and Oliveras each finished with 13 points and Zach Hatter added 10. Kellen Hodge battled on the glass and led Bridgewater with 10 rebounds.

Dula and Loving both posted double-doubles for Randolph. Loving had 21 points and 12 rebounds while Dula scored 13 points and grabbed 15 boards. Bickey also hit double figures with 16 points.

The Eagles are back in action Saturday afternoon when they travel to Ferrum College. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
