Behind the Arc Shooting Leads Men's Basketball to Victory Over Bethany

BETHANY, W. Va. - The Bridgewater College men's basketball team hit 16 three-pointers in a 102-80 win over Bethany, just three shy of breaking the Bridgewater team record for a single game.

How It Happened

  • The Eagles fell behind early to the Bison, trailing by 14 at 27-13 with 13 minutes to go in the half
  • Bridgewater would outshoot Bethany 22-8 to tie the game at 35-35 on a Andy Pack three. Five different Eagles recorded a rebound in the momentum swing to enter the locker room up 59-45
  • The Bison came within eight of the Eagles but could not slow down the Eagle speed, tenacious defense, and sharp shooting in the second half
  • Alec Topper's 18 second half points, including a string of three consecutive dunks, helped seal the road victory for Bridgewater

Match Notes

  • Bridgewater scored 100 points in a victory for the first time since February 28, 2020 when they took down Emory & Henry 109-90
  • Pack posted a career and game high 29 points to go with eight boards. The guard sank five from behind the arc
  • Topper also added a career-high 26 points and career and game high ten rebounds from the bench
  • Zach Hatter (13), Rashod Smith (14) and Aaron Oates (10) all contributed double-digit points. Smith also had a career high eight assists and four steals, adding to his top five ODAC marks in both categories, while 12 of Hatter's 13 points came from three point range
  • The Eagles caused 20 Bison turnovers, creating 35 points from the opportunites. Bridgewater also posted 40 points from the bench compared to Bethany's six
