WildCats Outscore Eagles, 91-81

Box Score

LYNCHBURG, Va. – A 7-0 spurt with around five minutes left to play pushed Randolph out to a nine-point lead and the WildCats held off Bridgewater down the stretch to take a 91-81 victory in the high-scoring non-conference contest.

The WildCats outscored the Eagles 49-48 in the first half and the teams traded buckets throughout much of the second half.

A layup by Eagles freshman Alec Topper had the Eagles within two points, 74-72, with 5:29 remaining, but then the Cats scored seven straight to create some separation. A three-point play by CJ Loving and a layup by Jerry Goodman put the Cats up 81-72 with 3:09 remaining.

Trailing 82-73, the Eagles battled back as a steal and layup by Andy Pack and two free throws by David Oliveras trimmed the margin to five, 82-77, with 1:27 remaining.

The WildCats, however, hit their free throws down the stretch to turn back the Eagles 91-81.

A tough night at the free throw line plagued the Eagles as they made just 6-of-14 foul shots and were outscored 21-6 at the foul line.

Topper continued his solid early-season play, leading the Eagles with 19 points and nine rebounds. Pack and Oliveras each finished with 18 points and Kellen Hodge added 13.

Danny Bickey led four WildCats in double figures with 22 points.

The Eagles return to action Friday night when they host Ferrum in a non-conference tame.
