Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College field hockey team lost 4-0 at home on Tuesday to Randolph-Macon.
RMC scored the only goal of the first half as Maddie McCoy slipped a pass over to Mary Dodd on a 2-on-1.
Courtney Cooke and Karinne Moyer had several first half runs through the RMC backline that were broken up by the last defender. Late in the opening period, Cooke was stopped by Megan May and then Moyer was defended by Sydney Duimstra. Cooke and Moyer then teamed up for a 2-on-1 break early in the second that was broken up by Claire Magill.
RMC goalie Gatlin Snyder slid out to stop a Moyer breakaway later in the second quarter, and BC's Brooke Hamm (7 saves) made a good save at the other end of Catherine Magill just before halftime.
Maria-Teresa Ambrogi-Torres scored from about as far out as allowed and as close in as possible in the third quarter. She converted a penalty corner from the edge of the circle to make it 2-0, and then swept the rebound in right in front of the goalline after Hamm had saved the initial Randolph-Macon shot for a 3-0 RMC lead.
The Eagles had three straight corners with five minutes to go in the third, getting shots on target on the first two of them, but were unable to get on the board.
Bridgewater is 3-2, 3-2 ODAC and will travel to Shenandoah on Friday.
