BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Randolph-Macon jumped out to a 23-9 lead in the first 10 minutes Saturday evening and the nation's top-ranked team went on to defeat Bridgewater College 80-49 in the ODAC men's basketball tournament quarterfinals.

At the end of the first half, the Yellow Jackets held a 20-point lead, 39-19.

The Eagles used a five-point trip midway through the second half to trim the deficit to 15 points. Freshman forward Alex Topper drove the lane and scored while being fouled. Topper missed the free throw, but Andy Pack grabbed the rebound and scored on the stick-back while getting fouled. Pack tacked on the foul shot, pulling the Eagles to within 54-39.

Macon then reeled off nine straight points to push the lead back above the 20-points before finishing off the 80-49 victory.

Pack paced the Eagles with 17 points and David Oliveras added 10. Topper scored nine points and senior guard Chandler Murray added seven in his final game.

All-American guard Buzz Anthony led the Yellow Jackets, now 9-0, with 23 points and eight assists.

The Eagles finish the season with a 2-6 record. Three of the losses came against Randolph-Macon, the No. 1 ranked team in the country.
