Box Score HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Bridgewater College field hockey team had the lead twice but lost a back-and-forth battle 3-2 up the road at Eastern Mennonite.
BC took the lead on a second quarter penalty corner. Kelsey Hicks took the insert from Caroline Quigley and passed it over to Courtney Cooke, who lifted a shot into the far netting.
After the Royals tied it in the final minute of the first half, Quigley gave Bridgewater the lead in the third quarter. The Bridgewater junior dribbled around the defense down the left side and slipped a low shot into the cage.
EMU overturned the Bridgewater lead again however, getting goals less than two minutes apart from Skylar Hedgepeth and Brandy Troutman.
Bridgewater earned a penalty corner with just under four minutes remaining in the game after Cooke nearly dribbled through the EMU defense, but the chance off the insert was kicked away by EMU goalie Ann Ghally.
Gally finished with eight saves, while BC got six stops from Brooke Hamm and a defensive save by Claire Ashley.
Bridgewater is 3-5, 3-5 ODAC and will wrap up the regular season at home on Sunday vs. Virginia Wesleyan. Pending tomorrow night's results around the conference, BC will likely be playing for a postseason spot in that game.
