Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Bridgewater College volleyball team lost to the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan 3-0 on Thursday night in Virginia Beach.
The Eagles started the match strong jumping out to an early 7-2 advantage. Bridgewater maintained the lead until 20-18 when errors caught up to the squad. The teams battled to end and pushed extra points until the Marlins took the set 26-24.
Virginia Wesleyan held to the Eagles to negative hitting percentages in the second and third sets to earn the 3-0 win.
Jyailah Friendly had a match high 14 digs while Ashley Casey, Jessica Bissmeyer and Grace Hayes all had 10. Hayes also posted 17 assists. Casey paced the Eagles with nine kills followed by Nadia Valle with five.
Bridgewater falls to 3-4 and returns to action next week when they host Lynchburg on April 15. The team will honor Friendly, the squad's lone senior, with a senior recognition ceremony prior to the match.
