nRIDGEWATER, Va. -- The Bridgewater College volleyball team posted a pair of 3-0 victories during its Homecoming nonconference tri-match in Nininger Hall on Saturday.
The Eagles defeated Hood 3-0 (25-10, 25-21, 25-20) before sweeping Catholic 3-0 (25-23, 27-25, 25-19).Â
In the first match with the Blazers,
Kylie Robinson led the game with nine kills to go with four digs and as assist, while
Gabby Atwell registered seven kills and four digs with two total blocks.
Rachael Meyers swatted six kills and
Lisa O'Grady and
Faith DePew each had five.
Grace Hayes led the game with 21 assists followed by
Ashley Rutherford who finished with 12 of her own.Â
Defensively,
Sophia Stites collected 14 digs to lead the game and
Madeline Walker finished the match with eight digs. Walker also dropped in three service aces to lead the team. On the nets, O'Grady led with three total blocks, while Atwell and Meyers each had two.
In a 3-0 win against Catholic to end the day, O'Grady finished with 15 kills on a .542 hitting percentage to lead the match. Meyers registered nine kills with two solo blocks and an assisted block in the win. DePew downed six kills to go with seven digs.
Hayes finished with 35 assists to pace every one in the match. Defensively, Robinson dug up 11 balls to go with her five kills, while Stites had 11 digs in the win.Â
Bridgewater returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 26, for its annual Senior Night game. The Eagles play host to Washington and Lee in a pivotal ODAC finale that has postseason implications. The match is set to begin at 6:30 pm.Â
