HIGH POINT, N.C. -- The Bridgewater College men's basketball team kicked off its 2022-23 season with an exhibition match against High Point on Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Aaron Oates drilled a three for the first bucket of the game.
- The Panthers went ahead 13-5 and started to pull ahead. HPU led at the half.
- The Eagles went on a 16-4 run to start the second half, but High Point responded with a 16-4 run to re-control the contest.
- High Point outscored the Eagles 45-40 in the second half which was much closer than the first half.
MATCH STATS
- Alec Topper led the Eagles with 13 points to go with seven rebounds and a pair of assists, while Shod Smith also registered 13 points.
- Liam Caswell pitched in seven points of his own.
- Freshman Cooper Hawk pulled down a team-high eight rebounds, as Oates joined Topper with seven boards.
- Smith led the team with seven assists and also grabbed three steals.
UP NEXT
Bridgewater plays its first countable game on Tuesday, November 8, as it travels to Marymount. Tip off is set for 8 pm.
