ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Bridgewater College men's basketball team fell to Marymount on the road on Tuesday night.
THE BASICS
Final Score: Marymount 64, Bridgewater 59
Records: Bridgewater 0-1; Marymount 1-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Aaron Oates got the first basket of the game on a layup in transition to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.Â
- Both teams traded scores as neither team could gain any advantage. Marymount eventually edged out a four-point lead at 16-12 with 10:37 left in the first 20 minutes, but a quick BC run pushed them into the lead after an Andy Pack trey, 17-16, with 9:32 to go in the half.
- The first half featured 10 ties and several lead changes the game remained close throughout the first half as it ended tied up at 29-29.
- A Shod Smith layup to start the final 20 minutes put the Eagles in the lead and was followed by a three from the Saints for another lead change and the home side edged out a five-point lead for the largest lead of the night at the time. Bridgewater continued to battle and trimmed the lead to one point several times before a Alec Topper layup and a pair of Pack free throws put the Eagles in the lead 47-46 with under 10 minutes left in the game.Â
- For every basket the Eagles dropped, the Saints seemed to always have an answer as a layup from Topper to put BC in front was immediately countered by a three-pointer from the Saints to retake the lead. MU worked out the lead to 57-49, which proved to be the largest lead of the night.
- One last surge from the Eagles cut the deficit down to just one basket at 61-59 with one minute to go, but the Saints held on to prevail, 64-59.
