WINCHESTER, Va. - The Bridgewater College volleyball team picked up a straight set victory over Shenandoah to remain unbeaten in ODAC play on Wednesday night.
The Eagles took the opening set 25-21. Bridgewater trailed early 5-8, but after a
Lisa O'Grady kill and a pair of service aces from
Grace Williams BC did not trail the rest of the frame. Back-to-back kills from
Rachael Meyers and
Faith DePew gave BC the set.
The second set took much of the same route. Each team traded leads all the way until 18-18 when a DePew service ace and kill gave BC a 20-18 lead. The Eagles held that advantage taking the set 25-20.
The Eagles never trailed in third set. Shenandoah was able to keep pace but a kill from Meyers and back to back errors by the Hornets gave BC the straight set victory.
Ashley Casey led the Eagles with 10 kills, Meyers added nine of her own and O'Grady had seven. Williams tallied three service aces and
Ashley Rutherford and
Sophia Stites added two each.
The Eagles will be back in action on Friday night as they make the trip to Danville, Va. to take on Averett at 6 p.m.
