How it HappenedÂ
- The Generals opened the game with multiple shots in the opening 10 minutes but none found the frame early. Charles Schweinefuss made his first stop of the afternoon just past the 11-minute mark to keep the game scoreless. WLU kept the offensive pressure on with multiple shots on frame and saves by Schweinefuss kept the game scoreless until a Matteo Adler goal exactly midway through the frame gave the Generals the lead 1-0. The visitors had more chances down the stretch but fantastic saves from Schweinefuss and good plays by the BC back line kept it just a one goal game. Trey Widrick had the Eagles first and only shot of the opening half just before the horn but it missed wide.
- WLU kept the pressure up and Schweinefuss continued to answer with a pair of saves in the opening minutes of the second half. The second went off his gloves and out of play resulting in a Generals' corner. BC looked to have a chance to clear it as an arid cross was sent across the box, but an unfortunate deflection by a BC defender sent it to the back of the net to make it 2-0 Washington and Lee.
- BC looked to get on the board and made multiple runs but could not generate a shot. The Generals capitalized whit attacks of their own and a long pass gave them their best look and Alec Perez flicked it on goal and past Schweinefuss to make it 3-0 for the visiting side. WLU wasted little time as a long throw in the box five minutes late hit multiple players from each side before Grant McCarty sent it up and to the upper right 90 to make it 4-0 with 25 minutes to play. Twenty-five seconds later Perez added his second to make it 5-0.
- RJ Mackey came into the game for BC and got a piece of a shot from McCarty but it went off of the post and into the goal to make it 6-0. A trio of saves from Mackey helped BC get its first corner kick of the evening but the Eagles were not able to get a shot from it. WLU answered with a pair of goals to make it 8-0 with the final Generals goal coming with one second left to go in the game.
