BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College volleyball team picked up two wins, on a day honoring the 1988 volleyball team, against Randolph, 3-1 and Regent, 3-0.
Match One
THE BASICS
Final Score: Bridgewater 3; Randolph 1 (25-23, 25-19, 21-25, 26-24)
Records: Bridgewater 13-5 (5-2 ODAC); Randolph 9-10 (2-6 ODAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bridgewater got out to fast start with going on a 5-0 run with the help of Madeline Walker having three consecutive service aces. Reagan Stoop got the Eagles to the 10 point mark first with a kill to go up 10-2. Randolph battled its way back following BC's 11th point with a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to two, 11-9. Late in the match, the WildCats took its first lead of the 20-19 following an error on the Bridgewater attack. The Eagles responded with a Kylie Robinson kill to tie it 20 all. BC ended the set with two Rachael Meyers kills taking the 1-0 set lead.
- Randolph got out on the attack early getting to an early 8-5 lead over Bridgewater. The WildCats continued to hold the lead, but the Eagles fought back with Faith Shields decreasing the lead 14-13. BC hopped out to a long run of eight taking back the lead 21-16. Ashley Rutherford ended the match dropping in an ace to take the set 25-19.
- In the third set, Bridgewater jumped out to a 7-2 lead following a kill from Brooklyn Williams, but Randolph took the first lead of the match going on a run of five with a score of 8-7. The two teams traded points leading to the 10 point mark, but Brooklyn Williams started a run of four to give the Eagles a two point advantage, 13-11. The WildCats took back the lead with the help of a Brooklyn Finnerty kill 17-15. The BC scoring stopped when the team hit the 21 point mark with Randolph taking the set 25-21.
- The two teams traded points until five points when Randolph initiated a run of six to take an early 10-5 lead. Bridgewater played down most of the match but turned the offense up late going on an 8-2 run pushing the Eagles to set victory 26-24 winning the match 3-1.
MATCH STATS
- Stoop led the way with 15 kills on a .375 hitting percentage, while also having 15 digs, followed by Faith DePew with 10 hitting and having an impressive .667 hitting clip.
- Rutherford picked up 26 assists on the day while also digging the ball five times and had two service aces.
- Defensively, Sophia Stites garnered 17 digs while teammate Walker registered six to go along with four service aces.
- Meyers led the way for BC on the net with two total blocks.

Records: Bridgewater 14-5; Regent 8-6
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The offense started strong for Bridgewater as Stoop picked up three kills going up 6-1 on Regent. The Eagles continued dominating with Meyers picking up two kills to increase the margin to seven, 12-5. At the 15 point mark, BC started a run of five to lead by nine points, 19-10, which was capped off with a Stites service ace. Bridgewater halted the Royals to 13 points taking the 1-0 match lead.
- Bridgewater scored led 6-4 through the first ten points of the match until Vivi Liquorie registered two service aces and an assist to Jillian Levin to go up 9-4. Stoop picked up the tenth point for BC on the attack while also having two services aced making it 13-5. The two teams traded points through the halfway mark, but Bridgewater prevailed with DePew ending the set with kill 25-17.
- Strong offense persisted through the final set for the Eagle with the team picking up six kills in its first 10 points. DePew kickstarted a run of six to put the BC up 16-5 midway through the set. The attack was astounding as Bridgewater closed out the match registering another six kills to win the match 3-0.
MATCH STATS
- As a team, Bridgewater recorded a .363 hitting percentage compared to Regent's .041 hitting clip.
- Stoop had 14 kills swinging a .367 hitting percentage, while DePew picked up eight swinging a .313 in the second match.
- Shields led the way in assists having 17 also picking up six digs followed by Liquorie who had 14 assists with five digs.
- DePew, Brooklyn Williams, and Emerson Roper all tied with two blocks in the match.
