HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One
  • The visitors got on the board first after a Ben Davis sacrifice fly scored a run, 1-0. Bridgewater responded with a three-spot in the home half of the frame as Jeffrey Snider singled in Jarret Biesecker followed by a Brandon Hartman sac fly allowed Brett Tharp to score, 2-1. The final run came across to score as Snider came home after another sac fly, this time from Jonathan Sexton, 3-1.
  • The Green Terror got right back in front as they plated five runs on three hits and took advantage of a BC error to assume a 6-3 lead. The Eagles got back in it as Timothy Hopson started off the action with a one-out single before Biesecker and Snider each walked to load the bases. After a pitching change from the visitors, Hunter Clever drove in two runs with a two-out single to cut the lead to 6-5. BC tied the game in the fourth inning on an RBI double by Hartman to score Biesecker, 6-6.
  • McDaniel wasted no time in retaking the lead in the top of the fifth as Todd Calhoun launched a home run to score two and assume an 8-6 advantage. Bridgewater battled back in the home side of the fifth with two runs on two hits as Collin Reid walked to lead off the inning and he scored on a ground out to short, 8-7, and Kyle Carlson, who doubled earlier, came around on a sac fly to left field, 8-8.
  • The visitors exploded for five runs on just two hits in the seventh inning to take a 13-8 lead, highlighted by a grand slam from Davis. Once again, Bridgewater bounced back to plate three runs in the following half inning as Sexton drew a bases-loaded walk to score Snider. Reid followed with a two-run single  to put the Eagles within reach, but the Eagles went down in order in the eighth and ninth to fall, 13-11.
GAME STATS

  • Clever, Hartman, Reid and Sexton all had a pair of RBI in the loss.
  • Davis led the visitors with six RBI on a 2-for-5 effort at the plate with two runs scored.
  • Reid Long (ND) started on the mound and went 4.0 innings, yielding six runs (4 ER) on five hits with four strikeouts. Nick Harris tossed 1.2 innings of relief and struck out four, while Nick Griffin took the loss after 1.0 frame of action as he allowed five runs on just two hits. Game Two
  • The back end of the twinbill was another back-and-forth contest as McDaniel again took an early lead in the first inning. Austin Goudeaux reached on an error and made his way to third on the play and scored on a ground out to put the Green Terror in front 1-0. The Eagles responded with three runs in the home half of the inning as Biesecker singled and Snider walked before Clever stroked an RBI double to right field to tie the game. Sexton hit a sac fly to score Snider and Reid followed with an RBI double with two outs to let Clever cross home plate, 3-1.
  • McDaniel chipped into the lead with a run in the second and a run in the third to tie the game at 3-3, but as the story was throughout both games, BC hit back in the bottom of the third. Hartman laced a single to right and moved to second on a ground out and came around to score on an RBI single by Reid, 4-3. McDaniel finally got the run back in the fifth and tied the game at 4-4 after plating a run on a double play.
  • Bridgewater jumped ahead again in the sixth with two runs on a hit and taking advantage of an error as Sexton scored on a Carlson ground ball, 5-4. Tharp singled with one out as Reid scored from third to give the Eagles a 6-4 lead after six full innings. The lead did not last long as the Green Terror struck back for a pair of runs to tie the game in the seventh. The visitors also plated two more runs in the eighth to go ahead 8-6. The Eagles were in business in the eighth with two runners on with no outs, but both men were left stranded. Isaiah Blanks lined a single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, but was left as well, as McDaniel held on for an 8-6 win.
