SALEM, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's basketball team's season came to an end in the ODAC Tournament Quarterfinals with a 94-90 loss to No. 13 Guilford in the Salem Civic Center on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Aaron Oates drained a three-pointer in the opening 20 seconds of the contest to put the Eagles in front in the early goings. Although, the Quakers bounced back with a 15-0 run that eclipsed the next four minutes of play as they opened a 15-3 lead. Shod Smith broke the scoreless drought with a triple at the 15:15 mark but GC responded and went ahead 20-8 with 12:06 left in the half.
- Andy Pack hit a three and followed that up with an old fashioned three-point play and another running jumper to bring the Eagles within five at 21-16 with 9:33 on the clock. A pair of Guilford free throws extended the advantage, but Liam Caswell made it a four-point game with a trey off a feed from Alex Topper, 23-19, with 8:42 remaining in the half. Both teams went scoreless for the next several minutes that was ended by a Caswell three-pointer to get BC within two points at 24-22, but the Quakers went in transition as Jordan Davis hit a triple of his own to maintain a five-point edge. The two sides exchanged baskets for the remainder of the first half as Guilford held on to a slim 37-34 lead.
- The Eagles walked out of the locker room on fire in the second half as they went on an 11-3 run over the opening two and a half minutes to assume a 45-40 lead and forcing a timeout from Guilford. Out of the stoppage, Smith laid in a basket to give BC a seven-point advantage, but The Quakers were able to rally back after trailing for the first time since the game's opening basket as they mounted an 8-0 run in under three minutes to get back in front, 48-47, with 14:29 left in regulation.
- Guilford gained a seven point lead at the 11:22 mark but a Landon Hawes three put the Eagles right back in the game. BC continued to claw back before eventually tying the contest at 58-58 with 8:29 to go off a Mikey Ayala three-pointer. GC went on another run after the game was tied up and took a 10-point lead at 81-71 with 2:26 to go in regulation. The resilient Eagles remained in the game and went shot-for-shot with the nationally-ranked Quakers down the stretch and got within a basket several times over the last two minutes, but Guilford was able to hold on for a 94-90 victory.
GAME STATS
- The two Bridgewater seniors walked away from their BC careers with astounding, gutsy performances as Caswell finished with a game-high and a season-high 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field, including an impressive 7-of-9 from long range. Caswell added in five rebounds, an assist, a steal and a blocked shot in the loss. Pack also posted a season-high of 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting and was a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line. The duo made big shots the entire game to keep the Eagles within striking distance.
- Additionally, Aaron Oates finished with 11 points, while Ayala registered 10 points and Smith tallied eight points and five assists to go with a pair of rebounds. Alec Topper pitched in seven points and seven rebounds in the season finale.
- For the Quakers, Jorden Davis finished with 22 points on 7-of-10 from long range. Davis and Caswell put themselves in the record books by tying the ODAC Tournament mark for most threes in a single game.
- Tyler Dearmanadded in 17 points and seven rebounds with six assists and Burch and Luke Proctor pitched in 15 points each.
- Bridgewater shot a very impressive 50.0 percent from the floor and made 15 threes in the loss.
- A big difference in the stat sheet was the Quakers outrebounding the Eagles 38-25.
Bridgewater's season comes to an end with a 13-13 overall record.
