ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Bridgewater College men's lacrosse team fell to St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Seahawks opened up a 9-0 lead that took the teams through the first quarter and then added another in the early minutes of the second period before Chris Martel found the back of the cage off an assist from Connor McLean with 12:10 on the clock in the first half. McLean scored one of his own less than two minutes later to make the score 10-2.
• Martel registered his second goal of the game before St. Mary's added a few more goals as the home side led 15-3 at the break.
• The Eagles were held scoreless again in the third quarter as the Seahawks scored five more to take a 20-3 advantage entering the final 15 minutes. The Eagles were able to score two more out of the stick of Martel who finished with a hat trick and Luke Wendler who got an assist from Hayden Gourley.

GAME STATS

• Martel led the way for the Eagles with three goals to go with three ground balls.
• McLean and Wendler each scored a goal, while McLean and Gourley added one assist each.
• Gabriel Alexander went 8-of-18 on faceoffs with seven ground balls, while Samuel Sharps won six faceoffs and grabbed three GBs of his own.
• Ryan Addison led the defense with four ground balls, while Trevor McClelland, Eddie Ross IV, Jacob Mead, Addison, Michael Long, Hunter Russell and Josh Goodwin all caused a turnover.
• Tyler Carney made two saves for the Eagles, while Ian Cook pushed aside nine shots and Zach Guthrie-Pimpinella made six saves.
