Men's Basketball Drops Matchup with Roanoke

SALEM, Va. – The Bridgewater College basketball team's win streak came to an end Wednesday night falling to Roanoke 75-55.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Roanoke 75, Bridgewater 55
Records: Bridgewater 13-6 (6-4 ODAC), Roanoke 12-7 (5-5 ODAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The game began with Roanoke drawing the foul and getting to the charity stripe early, but Aaron Oates got the Eagles ahead with almost 2:30 off the clock draining a three to make it 4-3. BC was unable to capitalize on offensive possessions opening the door for the Maroons to bust out to an 11-4 lead. Jordan Cooper hit a three at the 14:37 mark to cut the deficit, but Roanoke followed it up with a 11-0 run to make it 25-7 at the 10-minute mark.
  • Joseph Crenshaw ended the scoreless drought by sinking a free throw to stop the offensive success from the Maroons. Will Dunlap took advantage of the defense knocking down a three later in the first half to make it 30-12. RK Law found his rhythm at the 5:10 mark with Landon Hawes finding him behind the arc for three. Roanoke continued the attack, but the Eagles kept it within 16 to end the first half, 42-26.
  • Coming out of the half Cooper dunked the ball following a pass from Oates making the score 42-31. Near the 15-minute mark, both teams ramped up the defense with Oates having a steal and Roanoke's Zach Rosenthal taking one away. Rosenthal got his name called dropping a three to give the Maroons a 52-34 advantage. Law picked up another three pointer to cut Roanoke's lead 59-43 at the halfway point of the frame.
  • Law continued his offensive presence scoring on another three pointer the following possession. Rosenthal continued to bring the offense throughout the final stretch for Roanoke. Taylor Fincham scored the final bucket for BC to end the game 75-55.
MATCH STATS
  • Bridgewater saw two double-digit scorers with Cooper leading with 17 points and Law adding 11 to the ledger.
  • The Eagles were effective forcing turnovers outdoing Roanoke 16-9 in the category.
  • The Maroons' defense was effective holding the Eagles to 27.7% from the field while shooting 49.1% on thier own.
  • Both teams grabbed boards on the offensive side of the ball with each team ending the game with 11.
