JACKSON, Miss. - Bridgewater College women's cross country put up impressive performances at the 2024 NCAA South Region Championships hosted by Mississippi College Saturday afternoon.
As a team, the Eagles placed sixth overall while entering the race as the No. 4 ranked team in the region out of 24 regional teams. Individually, senior
Mackenzie Young led the way for the team with a strong 13th spot running a time of 22:19.4 in the 6k race.
Following closely behind in the race would be freshman runner,
Taylor Myers placing 14th and finishing with a time of 22:24.3. Then, Bridgewater's third runner, senior
Emily Smeds, crossed the line right after Myers, placing 15th out of 100 finishers and running a time of 22:26.1.
Senior
Megan Wimmer would finish as Bridgewater's fourth runner clocking a 24:54.1 time, taking 72nd. Junior
Regan Robinson rounded out the scored finishers as the fifth runner with a result of 25:07, placing 75th.
The announcements for qualifications at the NCAA Cross Country Championships will be released on Sunday, Nov. 17. The nationals will held in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday, Nov. 23.
