SALEM, Va. - Bridgewater College women's cross country finished with the top finishers at the ODAC Cross Country Championships placing third overall in the team score in the 6k race at Green Hill Park Saturday morning. Three Bridgewater runners would place in the top-10.
Freshman of the meet award winner, Taylor Myers shined at the Salem course as the top finisher for Bridgewater at a blistering end time of 21.47.1. Myers took third individually and broke her personal record making her new mark the fourth-best all-time in program history. Just ahead of her at first would be Washington & Lee's Olivia Warr (21:35.3) and in second would be Lynchburg's Allison Dell (21:42.1), respectively.
In the team score, Washington & Lee prevented Lynchburg from snatching its fourth-straight women's title as the Generals scored 35 total points to second-place Lynchburg's 40 points.
The Eagles finished with three runners in the top-10 securing All-ODAC award recognition. With Myers as a First Team All-ODAC award winner, two more Bridgewater runners would be slotted to be awarded Second Team All-ODAC honors. Senior Mackenzie Young clocked a 22:16.3 finish to take 8th place and following closely behind, senior Emily Smeds ran a 9th-place time of 22:19.8, respectively.
Among 100 finishers Bridgewater's fourth and fifth runners landed in the top-40. Junior Regan Robinson secured a 24:17.1 time (39th) and senior Megan Wimmer ran a personal best time of 24:18.7 (40th).
The Eagles closed out the impressive showing with an average time of 22:59 and a total score of 79 points.
