HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles quickly got in front as Kaity Petersheim and Annika Benson scored inside the game's first two minutes. Petersheim and Lauren Roberts added another pair of goals as BC went ahead 4-0 just four minutes into the game forcing the Monarchs to use an early timeout. MU got its first score back off the stick of Payton Jones at the 9:47 mark but Madelaine Godat increased the lead back to four goals as the Eagles led 5-1 after the first quarter.
- Methodist closed the gap through the second quarter as Kennedy Martin found the back of the cage while man-down and Layla Wiesenfeld got the home side within two goals with 6:05 remaining in the half. Nearly 30 seconds later, Roberts got her second of the game to move the score to 6-3, but another Monarchs' goal by Tia Marlinghaus sent the game into half time with a 6-4 scoreline in favor of the Eagles.
- The third quarter was all Methodist as the lone two goals of the period were scored by the home side as Marlinghaus and Wiesenfeld each score to knot the game at 6-6 heading into the final quarter.
- Roberts completed her hat trick to start off the fourth period and give BC the lead once again, but Jones scored her second of the contest to tie the game again with 8:30 left in regulation. Off the next draw, Roberts gained possession and scored her fourth of the game to once again push the Eagles in front, 8-7, with seven minutes to go in regulation. The Monarchs tied the game for a third time with a goal from Rosa Williams with five minutes left. The Eagles had a chance in the game's waning moments as Ashley Venit fired a free-position shot, but the attempt was saved. As possession went the other way, a timeout from the Monarchs paused the game, but an unforced turnover allowed BC to go the other way. The Eagles got off a shot, but it was blocked aside by a defender as the Monarchs picked up possession and went down the field as Martin scored to give the home team the lead with just 16 seconds left in the contest. Bridgewater won the game's final draw, but the remaining time ticked away.
