BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's tennis team took down Olivet 8-1 on Wednesday.
Bridgewater opened the match by sweeping the double points as
Mark Gordon and
Gabe Elder were first off the court with a quick 8-1 win at the top spot.
Matthew Leonard and
Noah Hughes picked up an 8-3 win at the No. 2 spot while
Corey Beshoar and
Bryce Cline picked up a victory by the same score line at No. 3.
Elder was first off the court first in singles play after a rocky start. The senior recovered to roll to a 6-4, 6-0 victory at the No. 4 slot. Beshoar got the monkey off of his back as the freshman battled his way to a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the No. 2 slot. Leonard was next off the court after rolling and taking the opening set 6-1. After some adjustments Olivet battled back and forced a tie break where Leonard thrived on his way to a 7-6(0) victory.
Hughes and Cline rounded out the action as they cruised to victories at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively.
The Eagles are back at it on Wednesday they host Washington and Lee.
