BRIDGWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's tennis team fell to Shenandoah 6-0 on Wednesday in a rain shortened clash.
Shenandoah went ahead 3-0 after doubles action, but a battle at the No. 2 spot made things interesting.
Emma Staton and
Jolexie Whetzel hung tough and led early before dropping the final two games to go down 5-8.
In singles action, Whetzel was in a dog fight in the opening set as she led 3-2. A quick change of momentum resulted in her dropping the frame 4-6 and falling behind 0-3 as the rains came.
Ryan Roeber fell at the No. 2 spot, but without a late charge with a 1-6, 3-6 scoreline.
Raea Crabill found herself ahead as mother nature intervened with her in front 1-0 in the opening set.
BC is back in action after the run of the calendar as it opens a span of three matches in four days with a clash at Lynchburg on April 3.
