BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's tennis team picked up a 7-2 victory over Guilford on Saturday.
Bridgewater opened by sweeping the doubles points and jumping out to a 3-0 lead.
Emma Nesselrodt and
Jolexie Whetzel picked up an 8-5 win at the top spot while
Ryan Roeber and
Emily Wylie cruised to an 8-2 win at the No. 2 spot.
Raea Crabill and
Emma Staton wrapped up the action with an 8-3 win at the No. 3 spot.
Nesselrodt faced some adversity after dropping the opening set, but fought her way to a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win to put the Eagles ahead 4-0. GC fought back with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spot to keep the match alive, but Roeber locked it up for the Eagles with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 4 spot. Staton pitched in a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the No. 5 slot while Crabill finished off the evening's action with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 6 spot.
BC is back in action on Tuesday in Ashland for a matchup with Randolph-Macon at 4 p.m.
