BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College field hockey team picked up a 1-0 victory over Catholic on Wednesday night.

How It Happened
- Bridgewater saw it's first chance come on a penalty corner three minutes in, but BC did not register a shot. The Eagles registered a shot as Carynn Klingler fired a shot that was blocked up front three minutes in. Inside the final two minutes BC had one more chance in the opening frame, but Daphne Daymude's chance off the penalty corner was blocked.
- Catholic saw it's first chance come in the opening minutes of the second quarter as Sophia Conners fired a shot that was turned away by Madalyn Miller. Each team had penalty corners in the minutes that followed but no one registered a shot on the attempts.
- The Eagles saw an opportunity five minutes into the third quarter and took it on a penalty corner. Klingler fired a shot rom the top and Kiley Parker was there on the back side for the redirect and in to make it 1-0 for BC. Catholic responded with a shot a few minutes later but it was blocked on its way to the cage. BC had a chance with five minuets to play in the quarter as Maylynn Watson and Olivia DeWan had their shots turned away by Abigail Kearney. BC fired a shot as the period expired that was also stopped by the Cardinals.
- Catholic had plenty of chances in the fourth quarter including inside the final minute. Catholic earned a penalty corner with 25 seconds to go and Ashley Nau stood tall as she rejected the first offering and the Eagles blocked the second, but CUA earned another corner with a second left on the clock, but did not register a shot.
Match Notes
- Parker registered her first collegiate goal to push BC to the victory. Klingler added to her assists total on the year with her helper on the game winner in the third quarter.
- BC was outshot 9-7 despite the scoreline. Parker was the only Eagle with multiple shots in the win, while Niki Micciche led the Cardinals with three.
- Miller and Nau both saw action in goal for BC with Miller making a stop and Nau tallying three.
