WINCHESTER, Va. - Bridgewater College women's cross country took first place in the team score at the Hornet Harrier Invitational Saturday morning. Â
The Eagles totaled an incredible score of 28 points in a field of five teams, including a 1,2,3 sweep in the women's 6k race. Senior Emily Smeds led Bridgewater with a first-place time of 24:10.1. Soon after, senior Mackenzie Young followed closely behind with a time of 24:22.1. Then, first-year Taylor Myers crossed the finish line placing third and running 24:27.5.Â
Bridgewater's fourth finisher, Paige Hiserman finished 11th and Megan Wimmer placed 13th with a time of 28 flat. The Eagles celebrated with the trophy of the Commonwealth of Virginia State Championship.
In today's competition, 36 runners entered the results list.Â

The Eagles are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa., hosted by Lehigh. The event is slated for a 3:15 p.m. start.Â
