FOREST, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's soccer team received several end of the year ODAC honors, as announced by the league office Thursday afternoon.
Head coach
Ryan Bennison earned coach of the year honors for the first time in his career with the Eagles and became the first Eagles head coach to win the honor since Mike Brizendine in 2003. Bennison, alongside his coaching staff, led this year's team to 12 wins, tying the top mark in program history set in 2003.
"I am genuinely humbled to receive this award," said Bennison. "However, it must be said that it is simply a by-product of being around the right kind of people. We have great coaches, an awesome support staff, and an incredible group of young men to be around. This doesn't happen without them."
Assistant coaches,
Fortune Sibanda, Eric Gesell, and Brian Stock each played an instrumental part in the success of the team, and the emergence of one of the more potent offenses in program history according to Bennison. The Eagles ranked fourth in goals (36), and fourth in points (91). The Eagles finished with a 6-2-1 record in ODAC play to earn the fourth seed in conference postseason play. Of their regular season wins, they handed then No. 22 Hampden Sydney their first loss in conference play of the season. The Eagles avenged their regular season loss to Virginia Wesleyan in the ODAC quarterfinals before falling to nationally ranked Lynchburg in the semis.
Junior forward
Trey Widrick was named the 2025 ODAC offensive player of the year award, and the first BC player to win the honor since Matt Brock in 2004. Widrick earned the honor after being at the top of the conference in nearly every offensive statistical category. Widrick led the league in shots (63), goals (11), shots on goal (39) and points (28), and is tied for second in assists (6). Widrick also earned All-ODAC first team honors. Widrick, one of the team captains this season, also earned ODAC offensive player of the week honors three times this season.
Junior midfielder
Riley Queen also made the All-ODAC first team. Queen ranked second in the ODAC in shots (57), goals (10), and shots on goal (32), and ranked third in points (21). Queen was a member of the 2024 All-ODAC second team. The Trinity, N.C. native was also named ODAC offensive player of the week after scoring two goals against Shenandoah and one goal against Randolph-Macon.
Anthony Eugenio earned his place on the All-ODAC second team in his first season in the ODAC. Transferring from Coker, Eugenio scored 11 points this season, coming from four goals and three assists. Eugenio scored game winning goals in the season opener against Mary Baldwin and against John Jay.
Leyden Mongold earned All-ODAC third team honors in his freshman campaign. The Broadway, Va. native started on the BC backline for 19 contests. Despite having a clean stat sheet, Mongold's efforts on defense proved valuable to Bridgewater's success this season.
