BRIDGEWATER, Va – The Bridgewater College women's swim team took care of Virginia Wesleyan in their home opener Saturday afternoon with a 121-58 victory.
The women's 400m relay A team, consisting of Grace Warren, Peyton Lawrence, Nelle Hines, and Tessa Gorby, set a new program record in the event with a time of 4:42.78.
In the 100-meter individual medley, BC swept the podium, as Anabelle Dragan took the top spot with a time of 1:15.25. Beatriz Macario Molina finished second, clocking a 1:25.48. Kalie Eaton placed third with a time of 1:26.43.
In the 200-meter freestyle, Mia Flory took the win with a time of 2:29.85. Virginia Wesleyan's Sarah Czapp and Ally Peck followed in second and third, respectively. Liz Forman finished fourth with a time of 2:41.18.
Bridgewater took a 1-2 finish in the 50-meter freestyle. Gorby swam the fastest time, swimming a 28.24. Hines followed with a 29.94. Paislee Hollifield was the final scoring finisher, finishing fifth with a time of 32.36.
McKenna Curry was the top finisher in the 200-meter individual medley, finishing with a 2:36.96. Addison Detwiler finished fourth with a time of 2:59.80.
Bridgewater earned another 1-2 finish in the 100-meter freestyle. Flory swam a 1:06.59, and Hines followed with a 1:09.6 Hollifield finished fifth, clocking a 1:16.69
In the 200-meter backstroke, Virginia Wesleyan took first. Dragan finished second with a time of 2:37.47. Forman finished fifth with a time of 2:58.12 to round out the scoring finishers.
Warren finished first in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:55.96. Macario Molina finished third with a time of 5:34.88.
Lawrence won the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:56.62. Eaton swam a 3:25.51 to place third, and Gracen Kelley finished fourth.
BC finished the meet with a win in the 400-meter freestyle relay. The A team, consisting of Warren, Dragan, Curry, and Gorby, clocked a time of 4:23.78 to finish the meet with a win.
The Eagles will compete in the Keydet Invitational from Friday, Nov. 14 to Sunday, Nov. 16. The meet will take place at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va. This will be the last meet of the 2025 calendar year for the Eagles.
