Corey Beshoar shined in the Bridgewater College men's tennis program's spring opening loss to Lynchburg.
Beshaor and
Matthew Leonard teamed up for a 6-4 victory at the top spot on the double court to open the day, but Lynchburg picked up a win at No. 2 to send things to the third court for the doubles point.
Coree Nicely and
Logan Garner battled back from 2-5 down and fended off two match points on Nicely's serve at 4-5 to climb back in the set at 5-5. Lynchburg rallied to take a 7-5 victory and clinch a 1-0 start thanks to the new seven-point rules.
Singles saw the Hornets sweep the bottom half of the ladder rather comfortably, but Beshoar roared out to a hot start on court two and never looked back with a clean sheet 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Mark Gordon also provided a bright spot in singles action at No. 4. Gordon dropped the opening set 3-6 and trailed in the second before a service break ignited the crowd and a hold of serve evened things at 4-4. Lynchburg on the final two games including on a deuce-point to secure the match.
BC is back in action on Thursday as both the men and women take on Maryville.
