BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Bridgewater baseball fell short to No. 11 nationally ranked Christopher Newport, 12-10, at Bridgewater Baseball Field Wednesday afternoon.

How It Happened

The Captains added another run in the fifth off a fielder's choice, but the Eagles worked to slowly cut the deficit. In the next two innings, BCE tacked on three runs with RBIs from Valbak, Sigmon, and Nick Stavros.

It came down to the final inning for the Eagles. Valbak worked a single to left field scoring in Stavros, then Smith cracked a single down the left side for the scored run by Bauer. With bases loaded, the Eagles were situated to do more damage; however, on the one out CNU's D'Arcy retired the next two batters to get out of trouble and avoid the walk-off for the 12-10 final.
