BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team dropped the opening match of its weekend homestand to Randolph, 7-0, on Saturday.
The WildCast took the double point with a quick win at No. 3, but BC put up a tough battle at the top two spots.
Matthew Leonard and
Corey Beshoar used a high first serve percentage to their advantage as the Eagles top duo rallied from 1-4 down to fall 3-6.
Mark Gordon and
Eli Morela were locked in a battle at the No. 2 spot and got a late service break back, before the double-fault bug led to them falling 4-6.Â
Leonard and Beshoar put up the Eagles' best efforts in singles play. Leonard rallied from 1-4 down to close back in during his opening set before falling 3-6, 3-6. Beshoar dropped his opening set in a hurry at a 1-6 line, but took the lead in the second at the No. 2 spot before a late service break handed the match to the WlidCats at 5-7 in the second stanza.Â
BC is back in action on Sunday s it takes on Roanoke.
