GREENSBORO, N.C. - The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings announced Tuesday three Bridgewater players to All-Region honors.
Nick Stavros and Zack Chadwell both garnered All-Region First Team, along with Ashton Smith earning a nod for All-Region Second Team.
The ODAC Player of the Year award winner, Nick Stavros, collected yet another honor being placed on the All-Region First Team. Stavros (Stony Point, N.Y.) maintained a remarkable season batting average, leading the conference with a .435 average. Stavros also held the second-most hits recorded in a season in program history (74).
Zack Chadwell (Chesapeake, Va.) turned in an impressive junior season to bring in All-Region First Team. The designated hitter brought in All-ODAC First Team honors while landing an ODAC Player of the Week accolade. Chadwell broke the school record in a season for most walks (42) while also tying the program record for second-most runs batted in in a season (59). Chadwell sent 16 long balls out of the ballpark along with a .393 season batting average.
After a commendable season, Ashton Smith (Chesapeake, Va.) also earned regional accolades, securing All-Region Second Team. Smith collected 58 hits, 50 runs batted in, seven homers, and 37 runs scored. Smith ranks fifth-best all-time in runs batted in in a single season.
