BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Bridgewater college women's volleyball rolled to a straight-set victory over Mary Washington behind junior Reagan Stoop's 1,000 all-time career kill Wednesday night.
The Eagles won in three sets over Mary Washington at home.

How It Happened

Bridgewater did not miss a beat all match. From both sides of the ball, the Crimson & Gold pressed hard and fast as soon as the first serve was hit. The Eagles went on an enormous 6-0 early scoring run in the first set. UMW slightly dwindled the deficit halfway through the set, but dominant scoring rallies took hold of the opening set with the help of Stoop's three abrupt service aces and Claire Griffith's pounding attacks to close out the set, 25-17.

Another extensive scoring run was stacked up against UMW early in the second set. BCE stormed to a six-point run and then quickly capitalized on top of that with a commanding five-point streak at 16-5. Stoop and Griffith again paired up late in the set, to attack aggressively through the teeth of the UMW defense. BCE nailed the second set with a strong 25-13 set score.

In the third set, the home Eagles never looked back, pouncing on the defense once more. The Eagles held firm of all the momentum while attacking on key set plays and countering on UMW's offensive setbacks. Stoop pounded the 1,000-career kill late in the set from a strong set by Lindsay Kelley, as the Eagles took care of business for a 25-16 final set score.
