How it Happened
- Almost immediately, the Eagles were applying pressure to Hounds' keeper Davio Rossilevin. 19 seconds into the contest, Joshua Parker missed a shot wide. Seconds later, Riley Queen sent a ball wide. Ethan Locklear and Trey Widrick each had a shot off target. In the 10th minute of the match, Queen set up on the left side near the box and sent the ball into the back of the net.
- The Eagles continued to mash their foot into the gas pedal. Widrick nearly found nylon twice, but one was blocked by the crossbar, and the other found the keeper's gloves. Anthony Eugenio, Connor Campbell, Matthew Brand, and Leo Vasquez all fired shots that were off the mark.
- John Jay had their first shot on goal in the 30th minute, when Andrew Provenzano sent one into the hands of Bridgewater keeper Zane Kowalski. In the 42nd minute, Brian Cuatianquiz found the back of the net to even the score before heading into halftime. The Eagles saw a couple more corner opportunities before the buzzer but failed to capitalize.
- The Eagles shifted into another gear to start the second half. Two minutes into the second half, Anthony Eugenio found the back of the net to put the Eagles on top. In the 54th minute, Brand lofted the ball into the box and found the head of Aerian Hammond, who headed the ball into the goal. Shortly after, the match entered a lightning delay that lasted 45 minutes.
- After returning from the delay, Brand was fouled in the box and capitalized off a penalty kick opportunity, adding an extra cushion to their lead.
- In the latter minutes of the second half, the game got physical. Three yellow cards were assessed, two going to John Jay.
- Queen and Vasquez had shot opportunities that were off the mark. In the 63rd minute, Hammond scored once more, further increasing the Bridgewater lead.
