BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Athleticism was demonstrated at its highest form leading to deserved recognition in the Bridgewater College Hall of Fame class of 2004.
Melody "Derrow" Hinkle earned 12 varsity letters playing basketball, volleyball, and tennis during each of her four years at BC. Derrow etched her name not only in Bridgewater record books, but also the conference record book with selections to All-Conference First Team in three-straight seasons and is Bridgewater's all-time leading scorer in basketball.
In volleyball, the Hall of Fame honoree shined on the court to help her team to a 112-24 overall record including an ODAC title in 1991. Derrow was selected to All-ODAC First Team as a senior.
Her accomplishments continued in her career in tennis. Derrow finished her career with a winning record of 27-23 at No. 1 singles.
Derrow later taught and coached four different sports at the high school level after graduating with an MBA from James Madison.
With these amazing accomplishments and achievements, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference has given Bridgewater College the honor of inducting Melody "Derrow" Hinkle into the conference's first ever Hall of Fame class in the league's 50-year anniversary of competition.
Melody "Derrow" Hinkle along with four other Hall of Fame honorees from Bridgewater Athletics Hall of Fame will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 17 at the women's basketball contest against Hollins in Nininger Gym at 4:30 p.m.
