How It Happened
Match 1
-
The Eagles stayed within reach, but the Lancaster Bible Chargers boosted ahead with strong momentum and just enough force to separate. For much of the first set, both sides played evenly, trading attacks. The Chargers used small scoring runs to climb higher into the set and pushed to a 17-13 score. LBC soon found strong hold late in the set to finish off the set on a six-point run for a 25-16 set score.
-
In the second set, the Chargers ignited an early seven-point scoring run to keep the Eagles away from making up ground. LBC then went on another commanding run, jumping out to a 15-7 score. LBC controlled the rest of the way for a 25-15 second set score.
-
The Eagles battled tough in the third set, staying close throughout the third set. LBC was challenged offensively and did not find the open looks as smoothly in the previous two sets. Jeffrey Prevost helped BCE claim the lead late in the set at 16-15 off a massive attack set up by Tomi Visgaitis. Lead changes continued to ride through the final points of the set. In the end, LBC sneaked by to take hold of the final set, 25-22.
Match 2
-
Bridgewater stood tall and ready for the tough task among the defending national champion, SVU, but the Knights found the answer after each BCE attack, while securing commanding scoring runs that took over each set. The Knights managed to work ahead to a strong seven-point lead halfway through the set and safely put the Eagles away from any potential rallies in the opening set. The Knights took the set, 25-8.
-
Although nearly similar attack numbers in the second set, the Knights continued to hold firm control. The Eagles struggled to weather the forceful scoring runs that occurred starting the set. The six-point rally directed the control and pace the rest of the way despite aggressive attacking sequences from Aiden Weaver and Jeffrey Prevost. The Knights knocked down the closing point, taking the second set, 25-15.
-
In the third set, the same potent offense continued from SVU's side. A strong eight-point run shaped the course of the set. The Eagles fought back to raise their highest point total of the night to 16 off a kill from Weaver, but the Knights stood strong and closed out the final set, 25-16.
