How It Happened
Match 1
-
The Eagles grabbed hold of the lead from the start and never stopped. The offensive connections were synced to perfection to start the match as the Eagles rolled off a commanding five-point run to take a 13-7 lead. Then, Maecy Ann Frizzelle mustered back-to-back kills while Claire Griffith and Reagan Stoop also pummeled successful attacks from the outside for a strong 20-10 lead. Frizzelle smacked the final point to secure a 25-12 first set score.
-
Although the Wildcats got hot to start the set with a seven-point scoring burst, BC gradually made up the ground and responded with effective scoring sequences to break the rhythm of the opposition. The Eagles finally caught up to the Wildcats at 20 apiece as Griffith swung back and fired a laser to find open hardwood. BC closed the set off with a five-point run for a 25-21 set score.
Match 2
-
The Eagles stayed in control the whole way despite hustled attempts from Marymount. In the first set, BC gradually distanced itself away from the Saints with effective scoring runs. An 11-7 edge helped set the tone the rest of the way. Attack errors consumed the opposition's game plan as BC continued climbing. Reagan Stoop punched the final point for a 25-17 first set score.
-
Although a much more back-and-forth set between the two teams, BC still made sure to keep the momentum on its side for the majority of the match. At the technical timeout, the Eagles held a 15-11 edge as Agnes Alford struck hard and found an open gym floor to stay ahead of MU. Molly Gardner then closed out the second set with back-to-back service aces for a 25-20 second set score.
-
The Saints charged ahead first in the third set, but BC was not done. The Eagles quickly recovered and powered through using a four-point run late in the set to take command the rest of the way. Stoop and Maecy Ann Frizzelle forced the Saints into misfires as the Eagles safely secured the match with a 25-23 final set score.
