BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The second-seeded Bridgewater College men's soccer team will host third-seeded Shenandoah in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament semifinals Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 2 p.m. at the Bridgewater Soccer Complex. A berth in Saturday's championship match will be on the line.
The Eagles enter Wednesday's matchup at 11-4-3 after defeating seventh-seeded Hampden-Sydney 1-0 in the quarterfinals. Riley Queen provided the breakthrough in the 80th minute, finishing off an assist from Caleb Malekzadeh for his 11th goal of the season. Zane Kowalski made three second-half saves to help preserve the shutout.
Wednesday's semifinal offers Bridgewater another opportunity against the only opponent to defeat the Eagles in conference play this season. Shenandoah claimed a 1-0 victory in the regular-season finale Oct. 28, using a first-half penalty kick from Jarbin Rodriguez to decide a physical contest that featured 37 fouls and eight yellow cards. Bridgewater finished with a 9-8 advantage in shots and limited the Hornets to one attempt after halftime.
Shenandoah brings a 9-3-6 record into the semifinal after defeating sixth-seeded Batten 2-1 Saturday.
Kickoff is set for Wednesday November 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bridgewater Soccer Complex.
