BRIDGEWATER, Va. - One week after defeating Washington and Lee in its regular-season finale, the fourth-seeded Bridgewater College women's soccer team will return to Lexington to face the top-seeded Generals in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament semifinals Wednesday, Nov. 4. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Bridgewater enters the semifinal at 13-3-2 after a 3-0 quarterfinal victory over fifth-seeded Randolph-Macon. Laura Narby scored twice, Katherine King added a goal and Erinn Lockard made three saves as the Eagles recorded their second consecutive shutout. Brianna Curro and Cassandra Villafan each contributed an assist.
The Eagles will look to repeat their Oct. 28 performance at Watt Field, where Narby's sixth-minute goal and Lockard's seven saves delivered a 1-0 victory over the then-No. 2 Generals. Lily Hewatt assisted on the winning goal as Bridgewater handed Washington and Lee its first loss of the season.
That victory ended the Generals' 31-game conference unbeaten streak, 42-game home unbeaten streak and 32-game overall unbeaten streak. Washington and Lee held a 26-7 advantage in shots and a 12-2 edge in corner kicks, but the Eagles protected their early lead through the final whistle. Another disciplined defensive performance will be central to Bridgewater's chances in the rematch.
Washington and Lee advanced with a 3-0 quarterfinal victory over eighth-seeded Randolph, setting up a second meeting between the Eagles and Generals in seven days. Wednesday's winner will advance to the ODAC championship match Saturday, Nov. 7.
Kickoff is set for Wednesday, November 4 at 6:00 p.m.
