How It Happened
-
The Captains found the early momentum surge and never let go. In the opening set, CNU jumped out to a 9-2 advantage after an eight-point boost. Another five-point scoring streak set CNU up for a 14-3 commanding lead. The Eagles struggled to find a rhythm the rest of the way as CNU claimed the first set, 25-11.
-
Back-and-forth sequences ensued in the second set between both squads. Then, CNU found the breakaway through the middle of the set with the help of a four-point burst to take a 14-10 edge. From there, the Eagles could not stay in rhythm and dropped the second set, 25-19.
-
The Eagles had an early lead to start the set as Molly Gardner laced a service ace, but CNU once again pressed on the gas and pushed the pace effectively. BC stayed close; but a sudden four-point scoring run set the tone for the rest of the set. Late in the set, the Eagles clamped onto a four-point comeback rally, but it was not enough as CNU slipped past BC for a 25-23 third set.
