BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team fell to Guilford 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Guilford opened play by taking the doubles point, but it was highly contested. The Quakers had a quick victory at No. 1, but battles were developing on the other two courts. The Quakers squeaked out a 6-3 win at No. 2 to clinch the point, but
Coree Nicely and
Steven Perry picked up a 7-5 victory at No. 3.
Singles action saw tight matches throughout. The top spot featured a marathon match with long rallies, in which
Corey Beshoar fell 2-6, 1-6.
Eli Entsminger led early in the opening set at No. 4, but his opponent pulled away at a 4-6, 0-6 result. BC's lone point on the tea score came at the No. 6 spot as Nicely rolled. The senior cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory to round out the action.
Bridgewater is back in action on Wednesday as it hosts Lynchburg.Â
