FOREST, Va. -
Willow Wright of the Bridgewater College NCEA equestrian team has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's Rider of the Year over Fences.
Wright's sophomore season has been nothing less than exceptional. The defending league rookie of the year has not lost a point over fences all season and tallied a perfect 100 in November. Wright was a key piece of the Eagles' second-place finish at the ODAC Traditional Championships in October and has been named an ODAC Rider of the Week multiple times this eason.
On top of winning a special award, the Eagles came in at No. 5 in the NCEA Selection Committee Rankings ahead of this weekend's ODAC Championships. BC finds itself just outside the four-team national championship field, with a chance to make a splash against No. 3 Sweet Briar in the semifinals of the ODAC Head-to-Head championships in Amherst on Friday. This ties the Eagles' highest ranking in the selection committee's rankings as they seek their first appearance in the National Championships in Ocala, Fla.Â
The Eagles take on Sweet Briar in the Semifinals of the ODAC Head-to-Head Championships on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
