The Basics

Score: Bridgewater 5, Shenandoah 19

Records: Bridgewater (6-5, 1-2 ODAC), Shenandoah (8-4, 3-0 ODAC)

How it Happened

  • Shenandoah struck first with 3:15 elapsed in the contest after hitting the post on their first shot attempt. Paige Mayers evened the score with 9:30 remaining in the opening period on a free position shot. Shenandoah quickly re-took the lead with a goal immediately after winning the draw. The Hornets found the back of the net again nearly a minute later. Andrea Lorca scored on an assist from Paige Overeem with 6:43 left on the clock to keep the Eagles close. Shenandoah caught fire offensively over the final 5:05 of the opening stanza, ending the period on a 5-0 run and entering the first break with an 8-2 advantage.

  • The Eagles kept the Hornets from scoring for the first 5:28 of the second quarter, even warding off the Hornets while being down a woman for a minute. The Hornets found a crack in the Eagles defense and broke the drought with 9:32 remaining on the clock. The Eagles quickly responded with a goal of their own, as Carly Gardill scored on an assist from Overeem seconds later. Shenandoah finished the half in a similar fashion to the end of the first quarter, as they went on a 4-0 run in the final five minutes of the half.

  • Shenandoah continued their hot streak by scoring three unanswered goals in the third quarter.

  • Bridgewater put an end to their dry spell with 1:28 elapsed in the final period, when Ella Price found the back of the net while the Eagles were up a woman. Shenandoah scored three more times over the remainder of the period. In the final seconds, Bridgewater scored after capitalizing on a late Shenandoah turnover.
