BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team fell to Virginia Wesleyan 7-0 on Sunday afternoon.
The Marlins swept doubles action to take a 1-0 team lead. BC's best effort came at No. 3 as
Steven Perry and
Coree Nicely fell 2-6.
Va. Wesleyan swept singles action, but not without a thriller at the top spot.
Corey Beshoar took the opening set 6-3 and served for the match twice in the second set. The junior had a match point in his second attempt, but did not convert. VWU's top player roared back and took the second set in a tiebreak 7-1, and took the match tiebreak 10-3. BC also got a good fight out of
Logan Garner at the No. 3 spot, using three service breaks to fuel a hard effort before falling 1-6, 2-6.
The Eagles are back in action on Friday as they host Randolph-Macon.
