Women's Lacrosse Falls to Roanoke in the ODAC Quarterfinals

SALEM, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team fell in their ODAC quarterfinal matchup against Roanoke Tuesday night.  

The Basics 

Score: Bridgewater 7, Roanoke 22 

Records: Bridgewater (10-9, 4-4 ODAC), Roanoke (10-8, 6-2 ODAC) 

How it Happened 

  • Bridgewater jumped to an early 1-0 lead. After Roanoke went down a woman from a green card, Paige Overeem connected with Ella Price for the first goal of the contest. Both teams were unable to score over the following six minutes of game action. After not being able to convert on their first five scoring opportunities, Roanoke finally found the back of the net with 6:49 remaining in the opening stanza. The first score opened the flood gates, as Roanoke scored five more goals before the end of the period. 

  • The Maroons continued where they left off from the first quarter, scoring in the opening minute of the second quarter. Roanoke scored twice more to push their lead to eight. Andrea Lorca connected with Taylor Price with 6:34 remaining in the period to break the BC scoring drought. Roanoke scored twice more before Paige Mayers scored her first goal of the contest in the waning seconds of the half.  

  • Roanoke opened the second half on a 6-0 run in the first 9:36 of the quarter. Carly Gardill scored the first BC goal of the half with 3:52 left on the clock. Lorca followed with a goal of her own a couple minutes later. Roanoke scored with 60 seconds left to push their lead to 18-5. 

  • Ella Price opened the fourth period with a goal for the Eagles. Roanoke scored four times. Mayers scored the final goal of the contest with two minutes left to play. 

Game Notes 

  • With 122 draw controls on the season (6 in the contest), Paige Mayers broke the single-season record for draw controls. Mayers led the Eagles in scoring with two goals and one assist for three points. 

  • Maisen Jenkins played the whole 60 minutes between the pipes. Jenkins recorded 10 saves. 

Bridgewater finished their 2026 campaign with a 10-9 record, and an even 4-4 in conference play.
