HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Bridgewater College women's volleyball notched another road win and headed back home victorious in a five-set thriller over Stevenson Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened

The Eagles struggled to settle in against the Mustangs after a tough battle with No. 10 Juniata the day before. The Mustangs charged ahead first in the opening set, collecting momentum-inducing scoring runs. The Eagles held STE to no more than a three-point scoring run until the back end of the set, as BC dropped the first set, 25-15.

STE went after the Eagles again in the second set, punching a three-point run to open the set. Although the Eagles continued to hang in and fight tough rallies, the Mustangs remained with the upper hand. BC did strike up a four-point run to claim the lead for the first time in the set as Maya Veselinovic cracked a kill for a 22-21 advantage, but shortly after, STE forced an extended set and took the second set, 27-25.

That was when the Eagles kicked into higher gear for the third set. STE held an early 8-7 lead after a four-point burst, but BC was not fazed. BC continued to chip away and finally broke open to an 18-14 surge after a Maecy Ann Frizzelle service ace. The Eagles closed the third set, 25-20.

In the fourth set, BC came back again with a strong play style. The Crimson & Gold pulled away using a five-point run to its advantage for an 11-6 lead. Frizzelle strung together a pair of kills while the Mustangs found themselves making costly attacking errors. BC claimed the fourth set, 25-20, to push to a fifth-deciding set.

There were back-and-forth momentum swings in the fifth set. BC surged ahead with an 8-3 lead behind two more kills from Frizelle and an additional one from Virginia Collins. STE powered back to even the score at nine apiece. However, using a three-point run to BC's advantage, Reagan Stoop and Frizzelle said farewell and dialed back for the final exclamation point, to come away victorious with a 15-12 set finale.
